Make a Gift From My IRA

Search IRA Rollover Custodians:

IRA Charitable Rollover

If you are 70½ or older, you may be interested in a way to lower the income and taxes from your IRA withdrawals. An IRA charitable rollover (also known as Qualified Charitable Distribution) is a simple way you can help CSU continue its role as a premier educational institution. Please note that IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction.

Contact your IRA plan administrator to directly transfer a gift from your IRA to CSU. You can direct your distribution to be used for a specific program, scholarship, fund or College at CSU.

Benefits of an IRA charitable rollover gift

  • Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $108,000 from your IRA to our organization
  • You may satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year beginning at age 73
  • Reduce your taxable income, whether you itemize or take the standard deductions
  • Make a gift that is not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts
  • Important if you do not need the income from your IRA
  • Under the Legacy IRA Act, you can make a one-time, tax-free distribution from an IRA account to establish a charitable remainder trust or gift annuity for an amount determined by IRS guidelines, receiving cash back throughout your lifetime.

If you have any questions about an IRA charitable rollover gift, please contact us. We would be happy to assist you and answer any questions you might have.
