Dr. Bette Bonder and Dr. Patrick Bray open doors for future health professionals

CSU is grateful for Drs. Bonder and Bray whose planned gift will provide scholarships to CSU students who want to serve in a health profession, especially Occupational Therapy.

Dr. Bette R. Bonder is Professor Emerita and former Dean of the College of Sciences and Health Professions at Cleveland State University. She and her husband, Dr. Patrick G. Bray, named the University as a partial beneficiary of their Charitable Remainder Trust. This planned gift will support the Abe Bonder and Evelyn Darnovsky Bonder Endowed Scholarship which was established in 2011 by Dr. Bonder and her two siblings in honor of their parents. The endowment provides scholarships to students with demonstrated financial need who show academic promise in their pursuit of a health profession, preferably Occupational Therapy.

An occupational therapist and psychologist, Dr. Bonder has extensive experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds in mental health. Her book, Psychopathology and Function, remains an essential occupational therapy resource. Dr. Bray is an internal medicine doctor with over 45 years in private practice. Through their generous planned gift, Drs. Bonder and Bray will help ensure that future generations of deserving students can attend a college that provides the high quality of education that is offered through CSU, with less financial strain.
